Do You Talk to Yourself While Single Player Gaming?

I pose this as a legitimate question.

I find myself weighing my in-game options and choices aloud. I think of it like I’m doing live-action role playing in front of the TV will playing an RPG on screen. I’m laughing at myself now that I’m reflecting about it on here. But I wonder if more players do the same thing?

Talking to Yourself Is Cool

Verbally weighing in-game options makes the experience come alive! Instead of a millisecond thought, the physical action (although small) makes a difference. It seems silly but it makes an impact on how I make choices. This also helps with my connection to the game. There is a stronger bond between me and the images on the screen. Caring more about the characters and story is never a bad thing! Albeit strange AF and will prompt sideways looks from your roommate.

I’ve been thinking about starting a gaming journal too. Jotting down notes to help keep the story and characters straight could be a fun. But I’ll definitely keep talking to myself because it’s a little weird and oddly satisfying. Give it a shot if you haven’t already. G Fuel helps.

“Nier: Automata” As Told By a Pleb

I have completed the first playthrough of Yoko Taro’s highly acclaimed weeb-fest, “Nier: Automata” on the PS4. So ladies and gentlemen if I say I’m a weeb, you will agree.

First and foremost, I didn’t even understand the story. The ‘what is life and death’ theme throughout the game did’t resonate with me. That trope has been done–many times. So, I’m left with the feeling of why did I even play? Well, I don’t expect my weeb cred to just be handed to me. I gotta earn it. I figure “Nier: Automata” is a fast track to weebdom. But wow, the combat is satisfying. Seeing 2B craftily dodge wailing robots in a leather LBD not only tickles this pleb’s fancy but clearly others’ fancy as well.

Upon the second playthrough of “Nier,” you get to takeover a completely new character, 9S who is an absolute neckbeard with the hots for 9S. There are more bullet hell moments playing as 9S and these moments offer a unique experience. Do these moments help the fact that 9S is a total pleb? Sure. Do I love this game? Absolutely.

Is “Fortnite” Ruining DrDisRespect?

I’m a huge fan of Doc, he isn’t perfect outside of the gaming world but his Twitch streams are so entertaining I can look past the blemishes. However, in the “Fortnite” arena, DrDisRespect hasn’t faired well. And guess what? “Fortnite” is all anyone wants to watch right now.

Lacking High-Octane Skills

Doc looks like he’s having trouble grasping the fundamentals of Epic Games’ battle royale game. The man can’t build structures efficiently and his usual killer shot isn’t finding the mark. Reflecting back, I’ve can’t recall The 2 Time never looking spooked or out of control while playing “PUBG.” But in “Fortnite,” things aren’t clicking for him. It’s honestly a little depressing, think of it like watching a washed up boxer get his ass kicked. But I love Doc, so writing that made me feel bad.

Numbers Tell the Story

DrDisRespect’s viewer growth | www.twitchmetrics.net
Ninja’s viewer growth | www.twitchmetrics.net

As you can see, Doc is hemorrhaging viewers at a pretty remarkable rate–still, an average of 20k viewers is nothing to scoff at but there is a visible decline. I put Ninja’s chart in there because it is incredible how many viewers he’s gained from his pure skill in the game. So, what’s next for Doc if he can’t keep up with the curve in “Fortnite”? We will just have to watch and find out!

Nintendo Created a Peripheral Monster With the Switch

The Nintendo Switch is quickly becoming one of my favorite consoles (besides the Sega Game Gear, duh). But the Switch stands apart from any other console because of how many accessories the consumer can buy for it. It’s crazy, let’s take a look.

The Switch can go portable on the fly, so a screen protector and a solid case are a must-buy. Oh, don’t forget to grab an extra charger for on-the-go moments in your life. Plus, if you want an all-digital games library a micro SD card will be in your Amazon cart before you can say Shigeru Miyamoto. Those are 4 required purchases for the system. There are others that I’m probably forgetting, forgive me.

Then, the not-so-necessary accessories include Joy‑Con charging grips, game card cases, light up dock shields, controller armor guards, compact playstands, car chargers and Labo interactive pieces–just to name a handful. Buying all that would cost a pretty penny.

The Switch peripherals reflect the fact the system can be both portable and stationary. It truly is a double whammy. Nintendo isn’t complaining, they are for sure laughing to the bank.

Shroud Looks to Be Stealing Ninja’s “Fortnite” Viewers

It looks like Ninja finally has some competition after completely dominating viewership on Twitch.

Shroud has proved he’s no scrub at Epic Games’ hit BR game or any shooter for that matter. The former “CS” pro wins tons of rounds and looks good doing it. Of course, always adding his signature, mellow personality to the high-intensity gameplay.

As you can see in the thumbnail of this post, the “Fortnite” viewership for both Ninja and Shroud is nearly neck and neck. The noticeable shift in viewers could be the precursor to end of Ninja’s impressive reign of terror on Twitch. We’ll see!

I’m Ready for “PUBG” to Release on PS4

Without question, Epic Games’ “Fortnite” is dominating the PS4 multiplayer landscape right now. But it’s time for “PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds” to shut down Looney Tunes A.K.A. “Fortnite’s” Playstation party.

Guns

First things first, the guns in “PUBG” are just superior to the cartoony weaponry in “Fortnite.” If a player finds a SCAR in “Battlegrounds” it isn’t outfitted with the best attachments right off the bat. You have to loot to get grips, scopes etc. Colors distinguish how powerful a gun is in “Fortnite.” The mechanic is too simple in my mind, I like the idea of being challenged to power up weapons.

Graphics

I’ve mentioned it before but I find the graphics in “Fortnite” to be offensive. They don’t call it Looney Tunes for nothing. “PUBG” has a look like it’s based in reality. And personally, it’s easier on the eyes.

Yes, “PUBG” has found its way onto the XBone–but real talk, it was such janky release we will just forget it ever happened. Bluehole Studio please bring “Battlegrounds” to the PS4 fully optimized ASAP before Looney Tunes takes completely over!

Lots of “Fortnite” Solos Helped Me Get Into the Game

Okay, okay. I was quick to judge Epic Games’ smash hit, “Fortnite.” After about 30 back-to-back solos in a row, I can now say I’ve gotten into the game and understand its monumental hype.

Being Selfish!

Looting up individually has its perks. All the best gear with no teammates riding you about distribution of goods. This alone makes learning the weapons and traps a breeze. Without teammates jack-harvesting all the resources, lil ‘ol me can be up to my eyes in wood, brick and steel. Then, there’s no more peer pressure about fort building or anything. It’s all me!

I say solos the best game mode in “Fortnite.” This is not something I could say for “Rainbow Six Siege” or any other multiplayer game for that matter. “Fortnite” gameplay feels more balanced when it’s a total free-for-all. Not having to worry about being separated from your squad only to be melted by another roaming squad is a nice relief.

If you haven’t watched the “Fortnite” god himself, Ninja, watch one of his latest highlight reels below:

Free PlayStation Plus Games Set to End for PS3 & PS Vita in 2019

PS3 and Vita users won’t get any more free games from Playstation Plus come March 8, 2019.

I get the email that you can see above from Playstation on March 1. I randomly stumbled upon it looking for coupons for Barnes & Noble (which I did if you’re wondering). But that’s neither here nor there! An end of an era is slowly approaching. Before we can even blink, PS4 games on PS Plus will be the ones getting the axe. Let’s put it this way, the PS Vita isn’t even an old console, it came out in 2012 and it’s already getting the backseat from Sony.

I feel like I’ve done my good deed sharing this today. I’ll just drink some G Fuel and relax anxiously now.

Ninja Is, Like, Really Popular on Twitch RN

Thanks to “Fortnite’s” insane success and his undeniable skill, Tyler ‘Ninja’ Blevins is currently giving every streamer on Twitch a run for their money.

According to TwitchTracker, on February 26 Ninja had a peak of about 122K viewers. This is insane considering Ninja was just a tag-along squad mate with huge streamers like Summit1g and DrDisRespect in “PUBG” only months prior.

Ninja’s stats prove if the streamer has the skills, viewers will come despite the personality. This is just my opinion but Ninja is fully annoying. His commentary and the way he condescendingly talks to his teammates him pretty unlikable. But he’s an absolute gawd at “Forty,” so what can you do.

Here’s a highlight reel of Ninja’s:
