Why “Final Fantasy 7 Remake” Puts All Remakes to Shame

Putting time into “Final Fantasy 7 Remake” has been a pure joy. It’s how remakes should be. Here’s why.

Graphics

The most-noticeable takeaways from “Final Fantasy 7 Remake” are the graphics. They’re stunning as heck. Walking around, taking in the sights makes for a good time. The character animations are hard to not admire as well. Not many games make you stop to take it all in.

The urge to take screenshots happens often. That’s saying something right there.

Gameplay

The departure from the classic turn-based combat made me a touch nervous, but holllllly the real-time battle system in the remake is money in the bank. For instance, gracefully launching Cloud into battle for hack-and-slash mayhem feels natural. Nothing about it is forced.

During the ability and spell casting moments, time slows down to allow the player to make selections with ease. This adds to the already addictive combat and throws in a touch of turn-based formula for fans of the original game.

Charm

“Final Fantasy 7 Remake” does not skimp on the epic strangeness brought to you by the original “FF7.” Although slightly altered, the infamous cross-dressing mission mades its way into the remake version. This proves the game didn’t get watered down and only improves upon the original “FF7” which can at times feel like a fever dream.

Another thing that made me nervous going into the remake was how the characters would act, but they all stay very true to their original selves. They are even more lovable, if you can believe it.

Final Fantasy 7 Remake should be in the hands of gamers everywhere at any price point. I can’t sing the praises of this game enough. Do yourself a favor and play!
