I finally got my Steam Deck. Waiting close to a year for my preorder to process and deliver was a major test of patience. Alas, the wait is over, this thing totally owns.
Emulation
I wasn’t sure about the Steam Deck emulation despite hearing plenty of positive chatter. Glad I took the plunge because there is so much good stuff here and–wow– it’s so simple.
All you have to do is download Emudeck here. Literally will hand hold you into pure success. Check it out.
If you haven’t played Parasite Eve on the PS1, I strongly suggest you give it a go.
Half-Life
You can play the Half-Life series on this thing. That alone is worth the price of admission. Even while I’m writing this I’m thinking about jumping into HL2 haha.
Configuration
For people who love messing with settings, like me, the Steam Deck offers plenty. Frames per second and Hz can easily be adjusted using sliders while the system is in game mode. Lots more video options can be accessed when the Steam Deck is in desktop mode. Any changes to the settings are noticed and appreciated in the gameplay. So so satisfying.
Conclusion
Go reserve one of these bad boys if you haven’t already. I can’t do anything but sing its praises. LNG approved for sure.
